Launch of global e-commerce talks

Ministers of 75 countries at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Davos launched talks to regulate online commerce in a “more predictable, more effective and secure” way, the European Union said in a statement.

Ministers from the European Union, the United States, China and other countries participated in the initiative.

“E-commerce is already in place in many parts of the world,” said the EU Commissioner for Trade.

“It is therefore our duty to provide our citizens and companies with a more predictable, secure and effective trading environment.”
