France warns Iran against new sanctions

France is ready to impose new sanctions on Iran unless progress is made in talks on Iran’s ballistic missile program, the French foreign minister said on Friday (January 25th).

“If the talks do not produce results, we are ready to impose tough sanctions, and they know that,” Jean-Yves Le Drain told reporters.

Diplomats told Reuters earlier that France, Britain and other European countries were considering imposing new economic sanctions on Tehran.

Three diplomats said the sanctions could include freezing assets and a travel ban on Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and Iranians involved in the development of the ballistic missile program.
