A senior Venezuelan air force general has said he has given up his allegiance to President Nicolas Maduro and now recognizes opposition leader Juan Guido as interim president of the country in a video circulated on Saturday (February 2nd) on the social networking site Twitter.
In the video, Gen. Francisco Janez, a member of the Air Force High Command, called on the rest of the army to split.
He is listed on the top command page on the Internet with his personal image as the commander of strategic planning in the Air Force.
The senior leadership accused him of treason at her expense on Twitter.
Janez is the first Venezuelan general in service to recognize Guido since he declared himself president on Jan. 23.
