Official: Britain’s separation without an agreement could hurt the EU economy

European Union (EU) Governing Council member Ignazio Visco said on Saturday that Britain’s exit from EU membership without a deal could have serious implications for Europe’s economy, although the direct impact on international trade could prove limited in the EU as a whole.

“Anything that disrupts financial markets could have major implications for all the countries concerned, and this issue is now being studied closely,” said Vesco, who is also governor of the Central Bank of Italy.
